IT'S OFFICIAL: ICON HAS LAUNCHED
After months of development, first looks, and anticipation, the ICON Multi-Mission Vest officially made its debut on the NTOA show floor. Operators and agency reps got their first hands-on look at the platform, and the response from everyone who stopped by to see it, try it on, and ask questions was everything we hoped for. Thank you to those who made time to check it out in person.

MEET ICON
One platform built to move from daily wear to tactical response.
Assignments evolve. So do threat profiles. In the past, keeping up meant swapping gear to match. ICON was built so you don't have to.
The ICON Multi-Mission Vest covers that full range — concealable armor, patrol carriers, plate racks, and full tactical entry — in a single platform built to scale with the operator.

DETAILS MATTER: Storage You Didn't Know You Had
A cummerbund that does more than close the sides of the vest.
Built into P7's three-piece 3PC-APS Cummerbund is the P7 Adaptive Pouch System, a set of interior pockets that put otherwise-unused space to work. It's available with several P7 armor platforms, including ICON, as well as hard armor and non-ballistic options.
Small essentials move to the inside of the cummerbund instead of claiming exterior MOLLE space. The result: a cleaner front loadout, one less pouch to catch on a doorframe or rail, and the gear you reach for most kept close at hand.
A small design detail — until the rest of the loadout starts competing for space.

Why Tactical Readiness Alone Won't Save Lives in an Active Shooter Response

In an active shooter event, responders are up against two enemies at once: the attacker, and the clock.
Drawing on two decades of after-action reports, this piece makes the case that tactics like room clearing and contact team movement are rarely where real responses break down. The failures show up in coordination, communication and command — confusion about priorities, delays in establishing incident command, and gaps between law enforcement and fire rescue. The author's argument: agencies need to train for the chaos of a response, not just the confrontation itself, and build the interagency relationships that make a unified response possible long before an incident happens.

How To: Move Your Soft Armor Into the Concealable Carrier
One of the most versatile features available on select P7 platforms is the internal concealable carrier. Shown here on the XPV, it's also available with ICON. The same soft ballistic panels that ride in the tactical carrier for entry work can be removed and reassembled into a low-profile carrier for daily duty or a Class A uniform.
Here's how to make the switch:
1. Break Down the Tactical Carrier
- Undo the front closure (zipper at the bottom) and any internal Velcro holding the ballistic panel in place, then pull the front panel out of the tactical carrier.
- Pull the over-the-shoulder pieces out of the side pocket of the panel, near the cummerbund adjustment piece.
- Flip the carrier over, reach into the middle, and unsnap the cummerbund to remove it. Undo the Velcro and take out the two side panels.
- Pull the back ballistic panel out the same way as the front.
- You should now have four panels: front, back, and two sides.
2. Assemble the Concealable Carrier
- Starting with the back panel, lift the Velcro on the side, insert a side panel, and press the Velcro back down to secure it. Repeat on the other side.
- Velcro the shoulder piece to the back panel on each side.
- Flip the panel over and place the front ballistic panel on top.
- Bring the shoulder pieces around to the front and secure with Velcro.
- Release the cummerbund adjustment piece from the front of the panel and attach it to the end of the cummerbund via Velcro. Repeat on the other side.
3. Check the Fit
- Put it on and adjust the shoulders and cummerbund via the Velcro adjustment points for a snug, low-profile fit.
- Wear it under your uniform shirt or Class A jacket.
Same four panels, same ballistic protection, just a different carrier around them.
